The Programme Management Team
At the Odyssey, a professional management team supports the strategic objectives and mission of the Odyssey. The Program Management team is made up of a group of highly qualified and experienced early childhood educators whose key responsibilities are in ensuring program accountability, supervision and management of programs for children, teachers and parents. Special attention and focus is given to the development and implementation of the Odyssey curriculum and pedagogy, and creating a work environment conducive to educators’ ongoing professional growth and development.
Kelly Hor, Managing Director
Kelly has played a very key role in spearheading the Odyssey program. She has been instrumental in leading a working committee assigned to look into the conceptualization and development of the Odyssey program from year 2006 to 2008.
Kelly holds a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education (Wheelock College, Boston USA), and a Bachelor degree in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore. She has more than 20 years of experience in early childhood settings; working with children, parents and teachers as well as in the management and administration of early childhood programs in a variety of settings. As the Managing Director for the Odyssey, her key roles and responsibilities are in establishing and ensuring a consistent, high-quality standards in program implementation, in establishing an innovative curriculum content and pedagogy that is aligned with the strategic mission and objectives of the Odyssey, supervision and continuous training and professional development of the Odyssey educators. Kelly’s passion and interest is in curriculum design, planning, research and development.
Kelly is also the Head for Curriculum for the Learning Vision International Group, Knowledge Universe Singapore, where she leads the curriculum department in developing the curriculum content and pedagogy, and in managing quality standards in curriculum implementation through an active teachers’ training and mentoring program.
Weelai Suwanarat, Director
Weelai began her active involvement in the field of early childhood care and education in 1987. She has worked with children as young as 2-month old infants to those at primary school level in student care programs. But working with young pre-schoolers has remained her first love, especially in developing language and literacy in these young children.
Weelai holds a Masters of Education in Early Childhood from Queensland University of Technology, Australia. She is also specially trained in Infant & Toddler Care and has spent time working in an infant centre in Perth. Weelai is currently pursuing her Doctorate Programme. As the Director for the Odyssey, Weelai plays a very key role in supporting the Odyssey program in all areas; program management and administration, staff management, operational efficiency and curriculum delivery standards and consistency. Some of Weelai’s key involvement is in promoting continuous professional growth of the Odyssey educators through supervision, coaching and mentoring, teachers training and in encouraging professional development of educators through educational research in the classrooms.
Rupal Arora, Center Director
Rupal has been involved in education since 1989, having held cross-functional responsibilities that include curriculum design, program marketing, student enrolment, and teaching at education service providers such as SchoolNet, Postkid, Inquisitive Mind, and Ednovation. She has more than 8 years of experience in teaching children from Kindergarten through to Grade 3, and was most recently Head of Enrolments at Avondale Grammar School, an international school based on the Australian curriculum.
Rupal holds a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Roehampton, UK, a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing, and a Bachelors degree in Economics. She is committed to the delivery of professional early childhood education and upholding the Odyssey’s unique charter of creating the competent child, the competent educator and the competent parent. Rupal is presently the Center Director for the Odyssey@Wilkinson. Her key roles are in the management of the Odyssey’s program management and teachers’ professional development. Rupal believes that positive parent-teacher collaboration is the key to promoting a high-quality early childhood program.
Rebecca Han, Program Specialist
Rebecca is a qualified and experienced curriculum specialist from the Curriculum department, Knowledge Universe Singapore. Rebecca holds a Masters of Education in Early Childhood from Queensland University of Technology, Australia. Rebecca has been an early childhood educator since 1987. Over the years, she has worked with children from 18 months to 6 years old in kindergarten and child-care settings. She also had the opportunity to work with children with autism and hearing impairment by integrating them in her classroom. Rebecca actively advocates for integration of children with special needs as she believes that each child should be given equal opportunities to education.
Rebecca’s interest lies in curriculum development and mentoring. In 2008, Rebecca was awarded the National Early Childhood Teacher’s Award for her active role and contribution as a mentor in the early childhood field. As a program specialist, Rebecca works very closely with Curriculum Specialists and teachers in the classrooms, and is actively involved in mentoring and coaching the teachers to ensure high-quality standards in curriculum planning and implementation.
Yvette Lee, Program Specialist
Yvette is a qualified and experienced curriculum specialist from the Learning Vision Curriculum department of Knowledge Universe Singapore. Yvette holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Children and Family Study from Edith Cowan University, Australia. Yvette has over 15 years of experience in early childhood industry. Yvette’s experiences in early childhood include lecturing the Chinese Certificate and Diploma ECE courses, managing a child care program as a principal as well as very extensive teaching experience as a Chinese Language Teacher
Yvette is very committed and believes strongly in effecting changes and innovation in early childhood curriculum practices as the platform for improving children’s learning and competencies in the Chinese Language. As a program specialist, Yvette works very closely with the Chinese Language teachers in the classrooms, actively involved in mentoring and coaching the teachers to ensure high-quality standards in curriculum planning and effective learning of Chinese as a language for expressions, communication and as a tool for learning.
Wong Lai Meng, Program Specialist
Lai Meng is a qualified and experienced curriculum specialist from the Learning Vision Curriculum department of Knowledge Universe Singapore. Lai Meng has a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College, Boston USA and over 20 years of experience in the early childhood field. Her extensive experience includes program management and administration, supervision, teachers training and mentoring. As a program specialist, Lai Meng actively supports the overall management of the Odyssey administration, operations and curriculum. Lai Meng is also involved in mentoring the Curriculum Specialists and teachers in the classrooms to ensure high quality standards in curriculum implementation.
